Face Up Conference Performances
What ever the theme of your conference we can create a bespoke interactive theatre performance that will bring to life the relevant issues for your delegates.
What does it look like?
In consultation with your team Face Up Theatre will create a theatre performance that is challenging, entertaining, and interactive. We will present the audience with dilemmas that are relevant to the themes of your conference. We will then, through the use of a highly skilled face up facilitator, ask the audience a question about what they have just seen. The audience will have the opportunity to discuss the issues with each other. The face up team will mingle with the audience listening into the conversations that are going on. After a few minutes of discussion the debate will be brought to a close and the face up team will feedback to the audience what they have heard, this will be done without naming the person that gave the information, this way people feel safe to talk openly without fear of reprisal.
This process continues with the dilemmas becoming more challenging as the show develops.
What are the benefits?
By starting your conference with a Face Up Performance, no body will be in any doubt about the themes of the conference and their role in addressing the issues raised. The performance will be a reference point for any subsequent speakers and workshops. The characters in the performance will mirror the audience. The benefit of this is that if you need to discuss or highlight failings within your organization you have at your disposal a fictional character who represents the audience, this character can be used as a conduit through which to discuss negative attitudes or beliefs, without fear of offending or developing resistance from members of the audience.
Our performances ask questions of the audience which they discuss, this means that by the end of our performance a conversation has already started, the audience have begun to work together to achieve a common aim. This conversation will continue throughout the day and beyond. The audience will also find themselves talking to colleagues or associates whom they have perhaps never met before. This allows them to develop new links and to network with other teams and agencies.
Couldn't we just use a DVD
The problem with film as apposed to interactive live theatre is that when people watch a film there is a screen between them and the action. This means that they can easily switch of from the content. A film will only be relevant on the day that it is made, after that it cannot adapt to any changes. Our interactive theatre performances are semi improvised which means we can react to any new issues or information and change the performance instantly to address those needs.
